Flashes and Floaters can cause one to see small, floating spots or bright flashes of light. They are caused by age-related changes in the vitreous that fills the back of the eye.
- The vitreous usually begins to thin between the ages of 40 to 60.
- Typical symptoms include seeing small floating spots, persistent flashing lights, or veils blocking your vision.
- Retinal tear or detachment can be a leading cause of flashes and floaters.
